CollisionRight recently acquired Tripps Collision Centers, a three-store regional MSO in central Michigan, bringing CollisionRight’s total footprint to 100 locations.
As with each of CollisionRight’s 41 acquisitions to date, Tripp’s will continue to do business under its local brand while benefiting from the support and efficiency of a large-scale organization. All of CollisionRight’s locations are corporate-owned and run under a common operating system of management, technology, back-office support and partnerships with insurance carriers and vendors.
CollisionRight is now the sixth-largest MSO in the U.S., hitting the 100-location milestone four years after its founding in 2020. It plans to triple its footprint in the next five years, by increasing its presence in the 10 states it currently serves and expanding into new ones.
The acquisition follows CollisionRight’s majority investment from Summit Partners in January.
“Acquiring our 100th store in just a few years is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our remarkable team. It underscores the value that embracing the history of established and trusted collision repair brands can bring,” said Rich Harrison, CEO of CollisionRight. “Driven by our mission to provide exceptional customer service and create the best possible place to work, our team will continue to pursue rapid growth into the coming years.
Tripps Collision Centers is a well-established name with locations in Lansing, East Lansing and Jackson, and has been a cornerstone of the community since its founding in 1988 by Phil and Barb Tripp. What began as a part-time high school job for Phil grew into a multimillion-dollar, award-winning enterprise, now spanning three generations, according to Focus Advisors, which represented Tripps in the sale.
“I built my business in this community over many years and learned how to grow and operate with excellence,” Phil Tripp said. “When it came time to exit, I knew it was important to bring in a company known for its expertise in selling businesses. I’m extremely happy I chose Focus Advisors to represent me and CollisionRight as my successor.”
Jeremy Tripp is staying on with CollisionRight. He said his family met Focus Advisors at last year’s MSO Symposium in Las Vegas, NV, and engaged shortly thereafter to help the Tripps through the selling process.
“Transactions are complicated and can be bumpy at times, but they were prepared and professional and managed us through every step of it successfully,” Jeremy Tripp said.
“It’s always fulfilling to help a family like the Tripps achieve a successful exit,” said Chris Lane, partner at Focus Advisors who led the transaction. “Phil, Barb and their children have been deeply committed to their community, and the younger generation will continue to contribute now through CollisionRight.”
