On Aug. 13 in Fairfield, CA, three Bay Area families were each presented with a refurbished vehicle through the National Auto Body Council (NABC) Recycled Rides program, along with car donor Farmers Insurance and repair partner Caliber Collision.
The recipients, including a U.S. Army veteran and a working mother, were selected based on their unique circumstances and pressing transportation needs. Each vehicle was carefully refurbished by Caliber Collision's Concord and Fairfield locations, ensuring the families received cars in excellent condition.
Jashun McGee is a U.S. Army veteran and single mother of four children. The children attend three schools, making transportation difficult. McGee was nominated to receive her 2017 GMC Terrain by Roads Home Insight Housing.
Minette Simmons, who juggles a full-time job while caring for two young sons, had a car that had become unreliable. The beautifully refurbished 2015 Toyota Corolla will give the family the help they vitally need. Simmons was nominated by Seneca Family of Agencies.
Ester Carillo Sanchez, recipient of a 2016 Mazda3, will now be able to take her grandchildren to school and will be able to return to school herself to complete her degree. SparkPoint Contra Costa East nominated Sanchez for the vehicle.
Since its inception in 2007, the NABC Recycled Rides program has donated more than 3,300 vehicles, valued at over $47 million. The program brings together businesses from all facets of the collision repair industry, uniting them with a common goal: to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need through the gift of reliable transportation.
