A Colorado veteran's life took a positive turn Jan. 19, when he was gifted a car through the National Auto Body Council (NABC) Recycled Rides program.
The deserving recipient, John Banks, was nominated by the Veterans Community Project after his family faced a challenging move to Colorado. During the relocation, their car was totaled in an accident, leaving them reliant on public transportation to manage work commitments and their children's school schedules.
Banks received a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, donated by Travelers Insurance and repaired by Caliber Collision Loveland, which also hosted the presentation..
“This is a huge blessing,” Banks said. “It’s like a weight lifted from my shoulders.”
The vehicle donation is part of the NABC Recycled Rides program, a collaborative effort involving various sectors of the collision repair industry. The program focuses on repairing and donating vehicles to individuals and families in dire need of dependable transportation. Since its inception in 2007, the program has donated vehicles valued at over $46 million.
“Since it became a part of NABC’s goal to change and save lives, the NABC Recycled Rides program has presented more than 3,200 vehicles to people in need,” said Deborah Robinson, executive director of NABC. Nearly 75% of these recipients have been veterans.
