JDM Collision, a GM Certified Collision Repair Network (CRN) center located in Thornton, IL, hosted a collaborative session Feb. 13 with the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) to explore the intricacies of the BrightDrop electric delivery van.

The initiative is part of JDM Collision’s commitment to staying at the forefront of automotive repair technology, especially as the industry shifts towards electric vehicles.

Phillips Chevrolet of Frankfort, IL, generously provided the BrightDrop EV for JDM Collision’s examination. The dealership’s support was instrumental in facilitating the hands-on learning experience. Phillips Chevrolet, located at 9700 West Lincoln Highway, has consistently demonstrated a dedication to advancing automotive innovation.

During the session, JDM Collision techs accessed comprehensive repair and service information for the BrightDrop van, using the same advanced diagnostic tools and databases employed for other GM vehicles. This approach ensures the team is well-prepared to handle the unique challenges presented by the latest automotive technologies.

As one of the few collision repair centers certified across all GM models, JDM Collision recognizes the importance of continuous education. I-CAR’s dedication to providing high-quality, industry-recognized training solutions plays a pivotal role in the repair center’s ongoing professional development, and I-CAR’s efforts in fostering industry-wide conversations and offering comprehensive training programs empower techs to perform complete, safe and quality repairs.

JDM Collision thanked I-CAR and its dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment to advancing collision repair education, calling their collaborative spirit and educational resources “invaluable assets to our industry, ensuring that we remain equipped to meet the evolving demands of automotive repair.”

JDM Collision, founded in 2005, works from two locations with a combined 13,000 square feet of space. The I-CAR Gold Class shop had a busy 2024, adding Solidus equipment in May, putting in a new paint booth and department that fall, and revamping its trainee program in December.
