Penske Automotive Group, Inc. announced the acquisition of Bill Brown Ford in Livonia, MI, the top-selling Ford dealer the past three years running. The purchase is anticipated to generate an estimated $550 million in annualized revenue for Penske.
Penske Automotive Group, which operates across four continents and nine countries, will gain more than 200,000 square feet of existing facilities on 29 acres, including a main dealership, a pre-owned facility, a fleet maintenance center and a collision center.
A spokesperson for Penske Automotive Group said the deal should not impact parts orders for local body shops.
"As with any acquisition, we use our expertise and scale to evaluate the operations and expect to make positive forward progress," the spokesperson said in a statement emailed to Autobody News. "It's important to preserve the qualities of the existing business while looking for opportunities to improve operations for customers."
Bill Brown Ford is an 18-time recipient of the Ford President's Award. According to its website, in 2023, it sold the most F-150s (1,700+), Escapes (1,400+), Explorers (1,100+) and Edges (1,200+) of any dealer.
"We are pleased to expand our retail automotive footprint in the Midwestern U.S. and our relationship with Ford," said Rich Shearing, Penske Automotive Group North American operations officer. "For decades, Bill Brown Ford has been building partnerships within its community by creating an environment that focuses on exceeding the expectations of its customers and empowering its employees. We look forward to cultivating those partnerships and welcome the employees of Bill Brown Ford to the Penske Automotive Group team."
This acquisition marks a milestone for Penske Automotive Group -- it has now completed acquisitions representing nearly $2 billion in estimated annualized revenue year-to-date 2024.
