De’Von Brown has been appointed as the new government relations manager at Maryland Auto Insurance. Brown’s extensive experience in government relations, public policy and community engagement positions him as a key leader for the organization during this transitional period.
Brown brings a diverse background to his new role, having served in various capacities, including as legislative director for Maryland State Del. Shaneka Henson. In this position, he helped draft and advance impactful legislation, such as the Cameron Carden Act, while fostering coalitions for successful policy outcomes.
Additionally, his career includes roles as chief of staff for Baltimore City Councilman Antonio Glover and media producer at the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office, where he demonstrated leadership in strategic guidance and community outreach.
“As government relations manager for Maryland Auto, my focus will be on building strong relationships with legislators, advocacy groups and industry leaders to help make Maryland’s roads safer and ensure all drivers are insured,” Brown said in a statement. “I look forward to being part of a team that works together to advance the agency’s mission and contribute to the safety and well-being of Maryland residents.”
Brown succeeds Sandra Dodson, who will retire at the end of the year after nearly three decades of dedicated service to Maryland Auto. Dodson has been a cornerstone of the agency’s government relations efforts, advocating passionately for Maryland residents struggling to secure auto insurance coverage.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to welcome De’Von Brown and his wealth of experiences to Maryland Auto,” said Maryland Auto Executive Director Al Redmer Jr. “We also want to thank Sandy Dodson for her many years of service, her dedication to Maryland Auto’s mission, and her passion for advocacy.”
