A grand jury in Massachusetts indicted Dyllan Lopes and Angelo Henderson for a series of crimes, including armed assault and larceny of motor vehicles, totaling more than $1 million in value, announced Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell.
Lopes, a 21, of Quincy, was indicted for 31 crimes across six counties, while Henderson, 19, of Taunton, faces nine charges in two counties.
Their alleged criminal activities include the larceny of luxury cars from auto auctions and other means, followed by their sale or attempted sale on Facebook Marketplace using various aliases.
The stolen vehicles, identified across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Bristol, Plymouth and Worcester counties, have a combined estimated value of approximately $1,067,613.
Lopes and Henderson are also implicated in a shooting incident in Dorchester on March 10. Surveillance footage captured two men, later identified as the defendants, near the scene. The video shows Lopes allegedly firing nine shots at a victim on a residential street in broad daylight. While the intended victim escaped unharmed, several bullets hit a passing bus with 15 passengers, fortunately without causing injuries.
Henderson, following his arraignment, posted a $12,500 bail and is currently out of custody, monitored by a GPS bracelet with additional release conditions. Lopes, arraigned in all six counties with charges against him, remains in custody on a $100,000 bail.
The investigation and indictments are the result of a collaborative effort led by the Massachusetts State Police, in partnership with the Boston Police Department, the National Insurance Crime Bureau, and auto auction companies Copart and International Auto Auction. The investigation also received support from various state and local law enforcement agencies.
Assistant Attorney General Gretchen Brodigan and Intelligence Analyst Jillian Bodreau of the Attorney General’s Enterprise and Major Crimes Division, alongside Financial Investigator Patrick Cooney and the Attorney General’s Office Digital Evidence Laboratory, are handling the prosecution.
