Avid golfers from the collision repair industry and local St. Louis businesses had an opportunity to tee it up at the legendary Boone Valley Golf Club on Sept. 11 for the National Auto Body Council (NABC) Honoring Our Heroes Pars for Cars Golf Fundraiser presented by Enterprise. Jackie Smith, who played for the St. Louis Cardinals in the NFL and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994, was on hand for the festivities and performed the National Anthem to kick off the awards presentation.
Boone Valley Golf Club is one of the premier private golf resorts in St. Louis. The 18-hole club was founded by Robert Ross and was built by golf course architect PB Dye, son of celebrated golf course architect Pete Dye. Host to PGA, LPGA and USGA events, the challenging layout offers spectacular views and an incredible experience for golfers.
When the dust settled in the sold-out event, and the winners of the event included:
- First place, score of 55: Steve Widen, Marty Evans, Bob Cornelius, Michael Walker
- Second place, score of 56: Darren Huggins, Matt Immerfall, Tim Flaherty, Tom Wolf
- Third place, score of 56: Kyle Kelly, Scott Cheek and their guests
The winners of the longest drive contest were Nicol Potter (women’s) and Matt Immerfall (men’s). Closest to the pin winners were Julia Fernandez (women’s) and Marty Evans (men’s).
Following the golf tournament, NABC and its partners hosted a NABC Recycled Rides® event, presenting vehicles to one deserving local veteran and two widows of first responders. NABC Recycled Rides is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides program in 2007, members of the NABC have donated more than 3,200 vehicles valued at more than $42 million.
Proceeds from the event help support hundreds of NABC Recycled Rides car presentations to those in need, NABC F.R.E.E.™ education programs for first responders and NABC Drive Out Distraction campaigns that keeps thousands of drivers safe on the road.
