Lucid Motors announced the production of its all-electric SUV, the Gravity, at its Arizona facility. With the introduction of this luxury SUV, Lucid aims to expand its footprint in the EV market, directly challenging competitors like the Tesla Model X and Rivian R1S.

The Gravity features seating for up to seven passengers, a spacious interior with 120 cubic feet of cargo space, and advanced driver-assistance technology.

“This milestone is a celebration of the hard work by our passionate and dedicated team to bring this groundbreaking SUV to life,” Lucid shared on its official X account. “Its combination of space for seven passengers and their luggage, more than 440 miles of range, and outstanding performance redefines all expectations.”

Key features of the Lucid Gravity include up to 828 horsepower, a projected EPA range exceeding 440 miles, and a starting price of $79,900 for the Touring model. The higher-end Grand Touring model, starting at $94,900, is available for order now, with deliveries expected in the coming months. Meanwhile, the Touring variant is slated for availability in late 2025.

Lucid has equipped the Gravity with interior features such as ventilated 18-way power front seats with massage functionality and its DreamDrive™ advanced driver-assistance system, which includes active and passive safety functions. Additionally, the SUV will come with a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, enabling access to Tesla's extensive Supercharger network.

The launch of the Gravity comes as Lucid seeks to diversify its offerings beyond the Air sedan, which has been the company’s sole model. While the Gravity’s specifications and pricing make it a compelling competitor, Lucid faces hurdles in a crowded market. Rivian’s R1S and Tesla’s Model X have already established strong footholds. Lucid’s ability to meet delivery timelines and effectively market the Gravity will likely determine its success in this competitive segment.
